Do you take insurance?
I currently take Sanford Health Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Evernorth, Health Partners, Medicaid, and Medicare. If you are self-pay you may be able to utilize out-of-network benefits. If you would like to submit a record of our sessions to your insurance company for reimbursement, please request a superbill of services during our initial session. Please check with your insurance provider about their reimbursement policies regarding therapy and mental health services.
Insurance
Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.
I’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:
Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?
Reasons to Pay “Out of Pocket”
Many clients choose not to involve insurance companies in their mental health care. Their counseling is not limited by the diagnosis, treatment plan or session limits that health insurance companies dictate. Insurance companies often limit the number of sessions and even the type of therapy. Many insurance companies do not cover couples/relational or family therapy. To have therapy services covered under insurance, a mental health diagnosis must be made. This then becomes a part of your permanent health care record. This may lead to limitations such as denial for quality life insurance or health insurance later on. Additionally, since a mental health diagnosis must be made to obtain reimbursement, the insurance company has to know a lot of information about you to be covered. Please note, the insurance company can review all of your records at their discretion. By paying privately or out of pocket, we can assure private pay clients of the highest degree of privacy, flexibility, and control of their mental health records allowed by state law, since our records are exempt from insurance reporting and random compliance audits. Receipts not submitted for insurance claims may be tax deductible under medical expenses. Check with your tax preparer.
When are fees due?
For private pay clients the full session fee is due at the time of session, other misc. fees are due when services are provided. For clients utilizing insurance benefits you will receive a statement on the first of the month for copays, payment is due upon receipt.
What are payment options?
I accept all major credit cards. I do NOT accept cash or checks.
How do we determine the length and frequency of sessions?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes long, but double sessions can be scheduled upon request. While individual needs may differ, I typically recommend once a week sessions to start. Based on your progress and needs we can then reduce the frequency of sessions to bi-weekly or monthly.
Cancellation Policy:
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please remember to cancel or reschedule your session 48 hours in advance. You will be responsible for your full session fee if cancellation is NOT received at least 48 hours in advance. *This is necessary since your appointment time is held exclusively for you. This allows me the time and ability to offer that hour to someone else.
Therapy is an investment and the insight, skills and value you will gain is something you can carry and utilize for the rest of your life. When you pay for therapy sessions and reach your goals you set with your therapist, you are investing in a better life for yourself.
